Description

Nature’s song carried through the fresh spring air as the morning sun reached down upon the land with its everloving touch. Yara felt its rays soften against her skin as the gentle waves of crisp mountain air spiraled through her fur. She gazed upon the mountains, their surfaces still reflecting the night’s blue hue. Insects buzzed through the wisping grasses surrounding her.  Yara sighed blissfully. It all felt right. This felt right. She could hardly believe now how difficult it had been to take those first steps away from the place she called home.

Home. A silver of a grin happened upon her lips. She supposed she couldn’t call the mountain wanderers her proper home anymore, but Yara would never forget everything those old wolves did for her. She even felt a twinge of guilt for leaving them behind. Who else would race ahead as swiftly as her to chart the paths? Or help ol’ Rufus catch his favorite glistening red fish? Yara was the youngest and most lively of them all. She dared to believe their lives would become rather boring without her waltzing around… but Yara supposed they’d always been the type to prefer the unexciting. It was one of many reasons she could not stay with them, no matter how fond she was of them.

So, what did home mean now as she traveled this new and uncharted path? Birds chittered through the distant pines, and Yara found her sky blue gaze searching the green treelines. Some may call home a place, but the wanders never quite stayed in one place for long.

For Yara, home became intertwined with those that surrounded her. Home was the safeness at night, and the food in her belly. It was the laughs and smiles on the wander’s face. It was their acceptance for her, and their understanding when she said goodbye.

But Yara discovered that there was more to a home than that. Home is what you miss when you are away. It is more than just a shelter. It is where you belong, and always want to stay. And the more Yara aged, the more she felt alone. No one quite shared her interest or her ideas. She never quite fit in with their ways, and their ideals. She began to feel alone.

But, there was perhaps another home out there for her. Hintertomb. It was where her mother was.

Yara did not know her mother. In fact, she knew very little about her. But she was family, wasn’t she? Yara was grown too. She wouldn’t be a burden if that is what her mother was worried about. Yara didn’t need to be taken care of. She knew how to take care of herself.

Over and over Yara reasoned and explained her way out of her worries that her mother might not accept her, even now. Her tongue rolled therapeutically over the cool stone she crawled between her jaws. It was a stone her mother left behind, and it was the only piece of her Yara had.

That meant something.

Right?

[Bone log] +2 for fullbody, +1 for literature

This piece took a long time to complete, but I wanted to give it my best shot given its Yara's first post! I recently took a deep dive on CSP's assets, and found a ton of brushes I really loved and I had a lot of fun trying them out. I actually think, every brush I used on the background was a new brush aside from the trees and grass. The background was inspired by this lovely location captured here .
